1. Shahzad insisted on portraying himself as replying to American actions: “I am part of the answer to the U.S. terrorizing [of] the Muslim nations and the Muslim people, and on behalf of that, I'm avenging the attacks,” adding that “We Muslims are one community.” Nor was that all; he flatly asserted that his goal had been to damage buildings and “injure people or kill people” because “one has to understand where I'm coming from, because … I consider myself a mujahid , a Muslim soldier.”
   शहजाद ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि वह स्वयं को इस रूप में चित्रित करे कि वह अमेरिकी कार्यों का उत्तर दे रहा है, “ मैं मुस्लिम देशों के विरुद्ध अमेरिका के आतंक के उत्तर का भाग हूँ और उसी ओर से मैं आक्रमणों का प्रतिकार कर रहा हूँ” इसमें उसने जोडा, “ हम मुसलमान एक समुदाय हैं”। मानों वह इतने से संतुष्ट नहीं था उसने सीधे सपाट शब्दों में कहा कि उसका उद्देश्य अधिक से अधिक भवनों को ध्वस्त करना और लोगों को घायल करना और उन्हें मारना है क्योंकि, “ लोगों को समझ में आना चाहिये मैं कहाँ से आता हूँ, क्योंकि मैं स्वयं को मुजाहिद मानता हूँ एक मुस्लिम योद्धा”।
