   निम्न वायुमंडलीय नमी के कारण जितनी देर धूप रहती है उतनी देर सूर्यातप इतना प्रचंड हो जाता है कि जमीन तेजी से गर्म हो जाती है और तापमान प्राय : 70 से . तक पहुंच जाता है.रात्रिकालीन विकिरण भी उसी तरह तेजी से होता है जिसकी वजह से रात को ठिठुरन हो जाती है या पाला तक पड़ जाता है तथा तापमान शून्य से नीचे चला जाता है .
