   यह पर्वतीय क्षेत्र रहने लायक जगत और मेरू पर्वत तक पहुंचते-पहुंचते बहुत ठंडा होता जाता है .
2. When the Guru came there was nothingneither the earth , nor the skies , neither the winds , nor the waters , mountains , sun , moon , stars , or animals .

   अल-बिरूनी ने लिखा है , ? कुसुमपुरा के आर्यभट्ट की पुस्तक में हमने पढ़ा है कि मेरू पर्वत हिमवंत के शीत प्रदेश में स्थित है जिसकी ऊंचाई एक योजन से अधिक नहीं है .
6. Now , it is entirely irrelevant whether Meru is there or not , as it is only required for the explanation of the particular mill-like rotation , which is necessitated by the fact that to each spot on the plane of the earth corresponds a spot in the sky as its zenith .
   सच तो यह है कि मेरू वहां है या नहीं , यह प्रश्न बिल्कुल असंगल है क़्योंकि इसकी आवश्यकता किसी विशेष चक़्की जैसे धूर्णन की व्याख़्या के संदर्भ में ही पड़ सकती है और ऐसा अवसर तभी आता है जब यह तथ्य स्पष्ट करना हो कि पृथ्वी के धरातल पर प्रत्येक चित्ती आकाश में उसके सर्वोच्च स्थल का द्योतन करने वाली चित्ती के अनुरूप होती है .
