   महज मसखरापन शब्द का प्रयोग तो काफी उदार है, बेलमाण्ट पर कार्रवाई के कुछ निहितार्थ हैं. जिस प्रकार डेनमार्क के Arla Foods ने कार्टून की निन्दा की और स्वीडन के विदेशमन्त्री ने कार्टूनों को वेबसाइट से हटवा दिया उसी प्रकार टेनेसे में नौकरी से निकालने की यह घटना इस्लामी कानून के प्रति समर्पण है. प्रत्येक समर्पण का अर्थ है शरीयत कानून को आगे बढ़ाना.
