   इस बीच धार्मिक अल्पसंख्यकों को भयानक हिंसा से गुजरना पड रहा है और इसमें सामूहिक आतंक भी शामिल है। द नेशन की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार कुछ बौद्धों और ईसाइयों को अन्धा कर दिया गया, उनकी अंगुलियाँ काट दी गयी या उनके हाथ काट दिये गये जबकि “अन्य लोगों के पैरों और पेट पर लोहे की छडों से प्रहार हुए”। “ महिलाओं और बच्चों के साथ सामूहिक बलात्कार हुआ और वह भी उनके पिता और पति के सामने”। इसके साथ ही सैकडों मन्दिरों और मूर्तियों को ध्वस्त कर दिया गया, हजारों घरों और व्यावसायिक स्थलों को लूट लिया गया या जला दिया गया।
