One eminent entomologist of Europe , who has written much on Indian insects , summarizes the common anthropocentric attitude of scientists succinctly when he remarks “ a dog has more reasoning power and higher order of mentality than the highest insect ; the absolute stupidity of the ant but the wonderful nature of its instinct is a curious contrast ” .
